About Karen Gillis
Karen works with teens, students, young adults, and professionals navigating perfectionism, OCD, ADHD, anxiety, and burnout. Many of the people she sees are capable and driven, and used to holding things together even when they’re overwhelmed, overthinking everything, or exhausted from trying to keep up.
Therapy doesn’t need to become another thing you have to be good at.
Karen’s approach is collaborative. You bring your experience of being you, she brings her experience as a therapist, and you figure things out together. Sometimes that means practical skills, and sometimes it means understanding why your brain does what it does. She draws on CBT, DBT, ACT, and trauma informed and attachment based approaches, with more than 10 years as a therapist and 20 in mental health.
As a queer therapist, Karen offers a genuinely affirming space for LGBTQ+ clients, whether identity is part of why you’re coming in or has nothing to do with it.
There’s room in her office for humour, tangents, bad weeks, and showing up without knowing what to talk about. You can come as you are.
