About Charlotte (Charlie) MacDonald
Charlotte, also known as Charlie, is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who recently graduated from Yorkville University and has joined the St. Lawrence Psychotherapy and Wellness Team.
With a distinguished background in healthcare, Charlotte served as a nurse for 30 years in Ottawa before transitioning to psychotherapy. In 2020, Charlotte began studying addiction counseling, a field that ignited her passion and inspired her to pursue a Master’s Degree in Psychotherapy. She is now a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) trained in several therapeutic approaches that support recovery from mental health challenges including anxiety and depression as well as difficulties with substance use. Creating a safe and respectful space, she works with each client to inspire hope and build on their individual strengths and resilience.
Charlotte’s approach is rooted in non-judgment and compassion, empowering clients to take their pathway to recovery and healing one day at a time. She is committed to lifelong learning and actively participates in continuing education to enhance her knowledge and skills across various therapeutic modalities.
Charlotte has personally experienced the transformative power of therapy, having sought individual and group therapy for her own past mental health challenges. This personal journey motivated her to become a therapist, where she worked diligently to address her difficulties with the support of a compassionate and empathetic therapist. Charlotte believes in the inherent goodness and potential for growth and healing in every individual. Her strength lies in providing a supportive environment where clients can reconnect with their inner resources.
Outside of her professional life, Charlotte enjoys exploring the beautiful attractions of Brockville, including swimming, visits to Blockhouse Island and taking long walks with her Golden Retrievers along the St. Lawrence River. She cherishes spending time with family and friends and equally values quiet moments at home, where she engages in activities such as working out in her home gym, reading and gardening.
